Our Mission:

Improve Lives

We facilitate the design and build of projects for communities, using volunteers and interns to teach sustainable building materials and methods of construction, resulting in a building that gives back to its environment; empowering, enriching, and inspiring the lives of the local community.

COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

A Community Interest Company or CIC is a limited private company that carries out activities which fulfil a community purpose. Our communities will be identified by the nature and locality of each individual project.

A CIC also has a "lock" on its assets. This prevents profits from being distributed to its members or shareholders. It also means that all assets must be used for the community purpose.

Building Together will use any profit it makes to promote and develop the connection between communities and their immediate environment while encouraging awareness, respect and protection of the wider natural environment.

If the CIC is wound up for any reason, its assets must be transferred to another, similarly asset-locked body. Our nominated charity is Keep Scotland Beautiful.

What we do:

Design &
Build

FROM START TO FINISH

As a Design and Build company we work with our clients to produce a building or physical structure from start to finish, taking the hassle out of sourcing architects, builders and consultants.

We work with natural building materials and sustainable methods of construction where possible, to produce buildings that are healthy for occupants and beneficial to the environment.

VOLUNTEERS

How do we do it:

Teaching On
The Job

WITH PEOPLE, FOR PEOPLE

Building isn’t too difficult, and we like to share our love for simple construction with as many people as possible. We use volunteers from the local community or run courses for members of the public.

By involving members of the community in our builds, we can produce something that is well considered and responds to the needs of the community and their local environment.

There are health and wellbeing benefits from working with your hands, being outdoors, and learning new skills. From problem solving, to power tools, there’s something to be learned on even the smallest of projects. If you have the enthusiasm to learn, we have the skills to teach you!
